InfoSAWIT SINTANG – Kicking off 2025, a total of 93.61 tons of palm kernel meal was exported through the Badau Cross-Border Post (PLBN) with a value of approximately Rp 114 million. This export marks the initial step in a phased shipping plan until March 2025, with a total capacity of around 300 tons.
Head of PLBN Badau, Wendelinus Fanu, stated that this export activity was carried out by PT Buana Tunas Sejahtera, a company engaged in palm oil agriculture in the Indonesia-Malaysia border area. According to Wendelinus, the early-year export continues the positive trend that has been ongoing throughout 2024.
"PLBN Badau, managed by the National Border Management Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, appears busier than usual. In addition to the increased number of cross-border travelers at the beginning of 2025, the activity of trucks transporting palm kernel meal for export to Malaysia has also risen," Wendelinus said, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from RRI on Friday, January 3, 2025.
Throughout 2024, PT Buana Tunas Sejahtera recorded an export volume of 336.18 tons of palm kernel meal valued at nearly Rp 600 million. This trend indicates a high demand for palm kernel meal, which is a byproduct of palm oil processing. In the processing of palm oil, approximately 45% of the output consists of palm kernel meal (BIS).
Palm kernel meal is known for its high nutritional value and is often used as a source of animal feed. With significant protein content, this meal serves as a supplement in feed formulations, particularly for cattle and poultry.
The export of palm kernel meal from PLBN Badau not only contributes to the local economy but also underscores the strategic role of the border as an international trade route. PT Buana Tunas Sejahtera hopes that the phased shipments until March will proceed smoothly, in line with the company's efforts to expand its market share in Malaysia and other neighboring countries.
