FFB Prices in East Kalimantan Rise, Palm Farmers Respond Positively

InfoSAWIT, SAMARINDA – The price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) of oil palm in East Kalimantan has continued to rise during the period of December 1-15, 2024. This increase is a continuation of the positive trend from the previous period, driven by rising prices of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and palm kernel. This situation brings good news for oil palm farmers in the region.

The Head of the East Kalimantan Plantation Office, Ence Achmad Rafiddin Rizal, explained that the weighted average price of CPO reached Rp 14,416.96 per kilogram, while the kernel was priced at an average of Rp 9,662.49 per kilogram, with an index of K at 89.46 percent.

Rizal also detailed the FFB prices based on the age of the plants for the period of December 1-15, 2024:

3 years: Rp 2,865.15 per kg

4 years: Rp 3,057.39 per kg

5 years: Rp 3,074.22 per kg

6 years: Rp 3,106.93 per kg

7 years: Rp 3,125.44 per kg

8 years: Rp 3,149.10 per kg

9 years: Rp 3,214.10 per kg

10 years: Rp 3,251.96 per kg

“This price list applies to plasma farmers who have partnered with palm oil mill (PKS) companies in East Kalimantan. This cooperation aims to ensure that the FFB prices received by farmers meet standards, preventing price manipulation by middlemen,” Rizal stated in an official statement quoted by InfoSAWIT on Thursday (December 19, 2024).

According to Rizal, the increase in FFB prices directly impacts the welfare of farmers. With stable and profitable prices, plasma farmers are expected to achieve better incomes, strengthening the oil palm plantation sector as a pillar of the regional economy.

He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between farmer groups and palm oil mills. Through this partnership, farmers are guaranteed fair prices while improving the efficiency of harvest distribution. (T2)
