InfoSAWIT, INDRAGIRI HULU – The Democratic Party faction of the Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) has raised concerns over ongoing land conflicts between local communities and three palm oil companies in their general remarks on the 2025 Regional Budget (RAPBD) proposal, totaling IDR 1.4 trillion. These views were presented during the Inhu DPRD plenary session on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
In its statement, the Democratic faction stressed the importance of equitable development across all sub-districts in Inhu, calling for proportional budget allocations. Yasman, Chairman of the Democratic faction, highlighted the urgent need to resolve land disputes involving PT Alam Sari Lestari in Rengat District, PT Teso Indah in Rengat Barat District, and PT Sinar Reksa Kencana in Peranap District.
Beyond the land disputes, the Democratic faction urged the local government to address the issue of unregulated mini palm oil mills, which have become a concern for the community. According to Yasman, these mills need regulation to prevent negative impacts on both the environment and the welfare of local farmers.
The faction also proposed the establishment of a Special Committee (Pansus) in the Inhu DPRD to handle land conflicts and boundary issues between villages and districts. "The Pansus will provide a structured approach to resolving conflicts, ensuring that community rights are protected," Yasman stated.
Adila Ansori, Chairman of the Inhu Democratic Party, affirmed that the faction's stance aligns with community aspirations gathered through public consultations. "We have collected and voiced all community proposals through the Democratic faction, and we hope the 2025 RAPBD will address these needs," Adila said, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from Berazam.com on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
With the Democratic faction's firm stance on these critical issues, it is hoped that land conflicts will be resolved and public services, particularly in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, will improve to meet community expectations. (T2)
