The Smallholders: FFB Stealing Raised Worries

InfoSAWIT, BENGKALIS – The smallholders in the Village of Tengganau, Sub district of Pinggir, Regency of Bengkalis got worried because many stole fresh fruit bunch (FFB) seeds from their plantations. It happened for many times and this was the loss for them that earned their lives from palm oil sectors.

A representative of the smallholders that worried about the FFB stealing said it to the Police Chief of Pinggir, Kompol Darmawan when he visited the village. The villagers hoped the police would act to stop the stealing for it would be the economic loss for the local.

Darmawan emphasized that Pinggir Police Station would get more patrol activity in the region to minimize the FFB stealing. “We prepared the patrol team more in this region,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from KBRN RRI, Wednesday (30/10/2024).

Besides FFB stealing, the villagers also complained about the bad infrastructure -way in the village. They said that when it was rain, the way was full of holes and muddy. This has something to do with their activities and even increase the traffic accident. They hoped the government would improve the way to get better activities.

“When it is rain, the ways are difficult to pass through and the threats for the safety. We do hope the government would immediately respond the complaints for the safety and smooth activities in the circumstance,” Darmawan said.

Besides listening to what the villagers complaining about, the activity of Minggu Kasih that Pinggir Police Station conducted, was about to take the villagers to maintain the safe situation heading to the 2024 election day. Darmawan said it would be significant to get cooperation among the police and the people to get conducive situation in the election process.

“The villagers of Tengganau and Pangkalan Libut would be very enthusiastic in the peaceful election day. We do hope this would make their relationship between the police and the people better,” he said.

He continued that the good communication between the two parties would be very significant to maintain the safe situation in the circumstance and by having dialogue in person, the police would know the inputs and suggestions about safety and security in the region.

By conducting Minggu Kasih, Pinggir Police Station hoped to get more trust from the villagers from the police and would encourage them to actively participate to maintain the safe and comfortable situation for everyone. (T2)
