InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PO PFMA) and PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara officially launched series of educative vide with the theme *Sawitflix*. The series would be about to help the planters in Indonesia to understand more about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification well. This would be important to support the sustainable practices.
In the launching ceremony in the City of Medan, North Sumatera Province, many participants, including the representatives of the regional governments, academy, palm oil industries, and planters got the socialization about ISPO implementation.
There were some speakers, such as, Ratna Sariati of General Director of Plantation; Indra Gunawan Girsang of Plantation and Livestock Agency North Sumatera Province; and Rino Afrino of Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo).
Sawitflix was formulated to visually deliver guidelines for the planters about everything to get ISPO certification. By delivering more attractive approaches and easy access anytime and anywhere, the video should be able to deliver answers for what the planters faced. The challenges are about the expensive cost to get certification process, the lack of access of information and technical development, and infrastructure and productivity issues.
The speakers mentioned that Sawitflix delivered innovative solution for the planters. Ratna Sariati said that ISPO certification was always blocked by the expensive costs even though PO PFMA, regional budget, and other sources provided the fund help. Besides, the lack of technical understanding would be the issue for the planters. The presence of Sawitflix should make the planters easier to understand the certification terms and conditions, and would get the long term – profits.
Head of Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit – PT RPN, Winarna did appreciate PO PFMA for supporting the production of Sawitflix. “Hopefully, the video would be the educational media effectively and inspiring every planter to implement sustainable palm oil practices,” Winarna said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (22/10/2024).
By the launching, PO PFMA and PT RPN hoped to escalate the planters’ participation in ISPO certification process, and encourage to implement more environmental plantation practices in Indonesia. (T2)
