InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Minister of Investment and Downstream, Rosan Roeslani got the special mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to expand downstream sectors in Indonesia. President emphasized that it would be significant to develop downstream sectors that would limit not only in mining but also in palm oil and fishery sectors.
“The downstream development should cover not only in mining to get additional values, but also the goal is to provide more employments,” Rosan said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Katadata, Monday (21/10).
Rosan also mentioned that the government would formulate the roadmap to expand downstream sectors for the mainstay commodities, such as, palm oil and sea weed. Palm oil, he continued, would have the big potentials in the derivative products, such as, olein while sea weed could be processed to be gelatin and cosmetic materials. The downstream sectors would create not only the additional values for the commodities but also increase the contribution for the economy nationally.
Rosan also said that it would be significant to develop downstream sectors in palm oil to support environmental fuel program – biodiesel – which now runs in B35 and the plan to escalate to be B45. “Of course, the government would support the downstream programs in the sectors that we have the big mainstays,” he said.
As the strategic thing, Ministry of Investment and Downstream that Rosan would lead but be coordinated by Coordinator Minister in Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, the coordination should accelerate to develop downstream programs in many sectors.
As it was informed, President Prabowo would be committed to continue the downstream projects as one prior policy in the era of President Joko Widodo. In his first speech as the President of Indonesia, Prabowo said that the downstream would be the key to realize the welfare and economic prosperity.
“We have to realize downstream programs in many commodities we have,” Prabowo said, Sunday (20/10).
President Prabowo also emphasized the downstream would get expansion to many commodities, besides mineral and mining. The additional values from the commodities should reinforce the economy and escalate the people’s welfare nationally. (T2)
