InfoSAWIT, BENGKALIS - The Regency of Bengkalis through Plantation Agency conducted socialization about smallholders’ palm oil plantations and profit sharing at Hotel Surya, Bengkalis. It involved related stakeholders, such as, Head of Plantation Agency Riau Province, the Development Acceleration Team Regency of Bengkalis, head of regional development plan agency, head of plantation, and heads of subdistricts, and some representatives of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis. The focus of the socialization was about to get the accurate data to support development polices in palm oil plantation sectors.
In his speech, Regent in duty of Bengkalis, Akhmad Sudirman Tavipiyono emphasized that it would be significant to get the valid data. “The right data would be very significant to help the government deliver adjustable helps and right on target for the smallholders, and would escalate their welfare,” Tavipiyono said, as InfoSAWIT quoted, Saturday (19/10/2024).
He also explained that the smallholders’ plantations in the regency laid on about more than 326 thousand hectares. For palm oil plantations dominated, the accurate data would reinforce the policy development in the sector.
One main topic in the socialization was about to inform about cultivation documents needed to get certification and helps from the government. He also launched “Perkebunan Jempol,” that would offer kinds of help, such as, superior seeds, fertilizers, and others to increase their plantation productivity.
Before ending the socialization, there was interactive discussion. Every participant, including the smallholders and many heads of villages delivered their opinions and inputs. One participant hoped that the villagers should get involved in the decision making about the plantations. “We want that what we tell here, can be listened to get what we need. With the right supports, we believe to increase our plantation output,” he said.
The Regency of Bengkalis would be committed to keep supporting their plantations to increase their welfare. By the socialization it is hoped that there would be better cooperation between the government and the villagers to make plantation sectors go forward in the regency. (T2)
