Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) in MFAT: Studied The Technology of POPE Purification

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) visited Malaysia to attend Malaysian Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP). It was the next visit from the cooperation between the wto organization in palm oil (plantation) sector by signing memorandum of understanding in the past.

Chairman of IPS, Jamalul said to InfoSAWIT, Friday (18/10/2024) that the visit was also about to attend the seminar of the 2024 Malaysia Future Agriculture Technology (MFAT).

In the seminar, IPS was interested in the latest technology called Remarkable Technology using Electro-Coagulation and Electro-Oxidation (RT-ECO). It would enable to purify palm oil mill effluent (POME). RT-ECO would change POME to be clean water and solid that could be taken advantages for the next process.

“We did visit Merujaya POME Solutions Sdn Bhd in Banting, Selangor, Malaysia to directly see the implementation. We are optimist that this kind of technology could be realized,” Jamalul said.

The visit was also to greet the coordinators of IPS and ISP, reinforce the organizations that were established last year. “The good relation between ISP and IPS would deliver chance to escalate the knowledge and latest technology in palm oil sectors for both countries,” he said.

IPS hoped that this would reinforce the collaboration to develop the plantation technology namely in POME. RT -ECO, for instance, would have the big potential to be implemented in Indonesia where the waste pools could be substituted by water re-cycle system. “The wastes from the mills would be processed to be clean water. This would be safe in water and the solid output would be as the nutrient substitution for fertilizers,” he said.

Some representatives from many related parties did attend the seminar to directly see the latest technology in Malaysia. Jamalul emphasized that IPS would always actively play its role in international scale – event to bring the good name of onesiesia in the globe.

“Representing IPS, this would be the start to introduce Indonesia in the world namely in palm oil plantation technology,” he mentioned. (T2)
