InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) and the people in many regions fully supported the elected President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka heading to their inauguration. The smallholders took everyone to maintain the conducive situation to support the new government successfully.

In his statement, Chairman of SPKS, Sabarudin did appreciate Prabowo Subianto as the new President. He thought this would be significant to develop this nation namely the regions where palm oil plantations developed as the main basic of economy for the smallholders. SPKS took everyone to maintain the peaceful situation.

SPKS, through its networks in many palm oil plantation regions, would keep encouraging sustainable palm oil cultivation. He also emphasized that the successful palm oil plantation development would need the stability and supports from the government. The peaceful situation would ease the smallholders to implement the better cultivation, including sustainable practices.

He also emphasized that it would be significant for the government to get partisanship for the smallholders for facing many challenges, such as, the fake palm oil seeds, the expensive superior seeds, and fertilizer. The government should deliver access of education for the smallholders.

“It needs partisanship from the government so that the smallholders would implement sustainable cultivation,” he said.

Even though the central, regional governments, and other civil organizations did many, it needs to accelerate the smallholders’ plantation legal for being the big issue that the new government should deal with.

SPKS hoped, by the new government, the smallholders, as one pillar of national scale development would be more solid and the smallholders would be optimist that the cooperation with the government would take this sector go forward and be better. (T2)
