Planters’ Human Resource Capacity Development Would be the Priority to Face the Industrial Challenges

InfoSAWIT, BALIKPAPAN – The main focus to reinforce palm oil plantation sector in Indonesia is by increasing the planters’ human resources. The government should encourage the training and education as the strategic things to confirm that every planter would have the capability adjusted to the industrial needs and reinforce the planters’ institutions in many regions.

Head of Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan Province, Ence Achmad Rafiddin Rizal said that it would be significant to conduct human resource development program when inaugurating the event “Sosialisasi Teknis dan Administrasi Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (PSDM-PKS)”, Hotel Tjokro, Balikpapan, Thursday. It was attended by many planters and stakeholders from many regions in the province.

In his speech, Ence Achmad emphasized that the long term – investment in human resource would be the key of the sustainability in palm oil sectors. “The government’s policies, such as, smallholders replanting program, human resource development, would be about to reinforce this sector to face the challenges of productivity, downstream sectors, and the legal," he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted, Thursday (17/10/2024).

There have been many strategic policies to support national scale – palm oil plantation sectors, such as, about governance improvement, planters’ institution reinforcement, and providing better market access. The training should help the planters solve their issues they always faced, such as, the low productivity, the legal, and the negative campaigns.

In the event, Yani Maryani of Ministry of Agriculture mentioned the technics about human resource development, the implementation of good agricultural practices (GAP) and hoped that the planters would increase their plantation production and productivity efficiently and sustainably.

The participants should implement what they listened, knew, and got to improve their governance, increase theirs in each region.

Back to Ence Achmad, “It needs competent human resource so palm oil plantations would be developing and sustainable,” he said.

With the government’s support consistently in the training and increasing human resource capacity, palm oil plantations in Indonesia would be more ready to face the global – scale challenges and reinforce Indonesia in the world. (T2)
