PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk (SGRO) Reinforced Replanting when Facing the Challenges

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk (SGRO) would be consistently committed to implement palm oil replanting program this year even though the challenges are ahead.

Head of Investor Relations SGRO, Stefanus Darmagiri said that the company actively conducted replanting program in the past few years.

In the first semester of 2024, SGRO successfully implemented replanting program that laid on about 4.772 hectares (ha) in the main and plasma plantaitons. This was supported by planting superior seeds. The company hoped the variety would increase the plasma plantation productivity in the future.

“We target to minimally conducted replanting program that would lay on 10 thousand hectares in the main and plasma plantations this year,” Stefanus said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Kontan, Monday (30/9/2024).

From the financial sector, SGRO used capital expenditure for about Rp 235 billion. 55% of the numbers was used for the fixed assets while the rests were allocated for the plantation activities. In the future, SGRO would budget the capital expenditure about Rp 400 billion to Rp 700 billion in 2024.

“Until in the first semester of 2024, we allocated about 34% to 59% from the 2024 capital expenditure plans,” he continued.

SGRO projected that the 2024 fresh fruit bunch (FFB) would be decreasing about 8% to the previous year production. It may happen for the continuous El Nino phenomenon that would have something to do with the plantation production namely in Sumatera in July and August 2024. The impacts in Sumatera could be worse than those in Kalimantan.

"The impacts of El Niño in Sumatera could be worse than those in Kalimantan," Stefanus said. That is why SGRO predicted FFB production from the main plantations could be deceasing about 5% to 8% in 2024 compared to the 2023 production.

"We hoped the FFB production in the semester II of 2024 would be better than it in the first semester because the FFB peak production is usually taking place by the late of the third quarter and the early days of the fourth quarter,” Stefanus said. (T2)
