InfoSAWIT, MUARO JAMBI – The Regency of Muaro Jambi, through the Assistant II, Ahmad Ridwan did mediation about area conflict between PT Bukit Bintang Sawit (BBS) and the villagers of Sogo, Sub district of Kumpeh, Wednesday (25/9/2024). It was in the room of Regional Secretariat of Muaro Jambi and attended by the head of Sago Village, chairman of indigenous people, chairman of Badan Permusyawaratan Desa, chairman of the Youth of Sogo, the police and attorney of Muaro Jambi.

In the meeting, the villagers of Sogo claimed some things, such as, area compensation for 332 families that got the impacts. They also claimed to get back their areas that laid on about 797 hectares that the Village of Sogo claimed as its.

Ahmad Ridwan that represented the Regency of Muaro Jambi emphasized that the regency would always monitor and facilitate the mediation between the two. “We would confirm that the mediation would be accomplished by having the fair solution for the both,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted, Thursday (26/9/2024).

The area conflicts would be the serious issue for the regency and legal officers because the impacts would be for the welfare of the villagers. Police chief of Muaro Jambi and head of Politic and National Welfare Agency did attend to make sure that the mediation would safely and transparently run.

It was the follow up from the regency to muffle the tension between the company and the villagers to get the agreement that would deliver advantages for the two. (T2)
