Itera Conducted Studium Generale: Sinergy with PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro to Develop Palm Oil HR

InfoSAWIT, BANDAR LAMPUNG - Institut Teknologi Sumatera (Itera) conducted a public lecture or studium generale with the theme "Membangun Sinergi antara Itera dan PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) dalam Mewujudkan SDM Unggul" or ‘Develop Synergy between Itera and PT. Bumitama Gunajaya Agro to Realize Superior Human Resource (HR)’. It was running at the hall of Kuliah Umum 2 Itera and the two signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Director of Itera, Prof. I Nyoman Pugeg Aryantha did welcome the cooperation as the significant thing to reinforce the partnership with PT BGA, particularly to support palm oil industrial HR. “The cooperation would be the very good moment. Itera has been 10 ears and get good strategic partnership with PT BGA. Hopefully, this would enliven the spirit for the lecturers and the students,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of Itera, Saturday (21/9/2024).

In the public lecture, Dr. Azis Natawijaya of PT BGA also mentioned that it would be significant to maintain palm oil production sustainability in Indonesia. He thought, palm oil is the most productive vegetable oil but it would need innovation to develop planting material, production monitoring, and increasing the quality of crude palm oil (CPO).

In the answer and question session, many participants were enthusiastic, namely from Yeni Kurnia, the student of Bio-system Engineering, Itera. She asked about how to maintain palm oil quality and quantity.

Azis said it needed to emphasize the standards of work, environment awareness, and technology implementation. These would be the keys to face the challenges.

The cooperation between Itera and PT BGA should increase not only the qualified HR that would be competing in palm oil industries, but also encourage research and innovation that would be useful for the people and the industries. (T2)
