Governor of North Kalimantan Encouraged to Develop Palm Oil from Upstream to Downstream Sectors

InfoSAWIT, TANJUNG SELOR –Governor of North Kalimantan Province, H. Zainal A. Paliwang, M.Hum., coordinated the opening seminar about feasibility study in palm oil industries, Thursday (12/9/2024). It was conducted by Food Security and Plantation Agency to optimize the potential in the region by developing industries from upstream to downstream sectors.

Governor Zainal would be committed to realize some strategic things based on deeper analysis in many aspects, such as, technics, finance, investment, markets, and social and economic impacts. “These would be the parameters to decide palm oil industrial development,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Information and Communication Agency North Kalimantan Province, Saturday (14/9/2024).

North Kalimantan Province where the palm oil plantations laid on about 38.061 hectares, the production about 73.946,30 tons, saw the significant chances from palm oil products that always increased in the globe. “We do hope this would escalate the selling products, be positive for employment that reached about 8.333 men," he said.

To support the progress the supporting infrastructures would be crucial. The province now has about 20 palm oil mills in the Regency of Bulungan, Tana Tidung, Malinau, and Nunukan but they could not produce maximally. He emphasized it would be significant to get feasibility study and construct bigger mills that would produce abundant fresh fruit bunch.

The cooperation with University of Hasanuddin (Unhas), led by Haerani., Ph.D as the Chairman of Feasibility Document Formulation of Palm Oil Industrial Development would be the start to determine the strategic locations to develop palm oil industries there. (T2)
