 InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The former Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), Joko Supriyono launched the latest book "Masih Berjayakah Sawit Indonesia Menghadapi Tantangan Sustainability Global". It was released in Jakarta, Wednesday, 4 September 2024. It summarized his journey and challenges that palm oil plantation industries faced in Indonesia for the past years.

In his book, Joko Supriyono, the Chairman of IPOA in 2015 – 2023, focused on the crucial issues, for instance, sustainability and risks of productivity stagnancy in the industries.

“I do hope the book would open the thoughts of many parties to support palm oil industries in their sustainability and development as integral part of energy source globally,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (5/9/2024).

Joko Supriyono who got more than 38 year – of experience in palm oil industries, also said, it would be important to get many supports, such as, from the government and business to face the closer competition in the globe. He thought, palm oil would have the strong competition with other vegetable oils and it needs protection from the government to confirm its sustainability.

Many appreciated the book, such as, nowadays Chairman of IPOA, Eddy Martono. He thought the book would be important to clarify the challenges and solution to what palm oil industries faced. Professor of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung, Bustanul Arifin also said that the book would be not only informative but also describing the historical progress and future challenges in Indonesia.

The launching of the book was also supported by big palm oil plantation companies, for instance, PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk., Sinarmas, First Resources, Musim Mas, Wilmar, Asian Agri, PT Unggul Widya Teknologi, PT Triputra Agro Persada Tbk., PT Bahruny and also Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency.

By the book, Joko Supriyono hoped to get wider discussion about the future palm oil industries in Indonesia and get the strategies needed to confirm the sustainability in the globe. (T2)
