PT BIA, BBKSDA Papua, and Merauke Conducted Public Consultation for Environmental Conservation Program

InfoSAWIT, MERAUKE — PT Bio Inti Agrindo (PT BIA) recently announced the successful public consultation for the third time for Environmental Conservation and Community Development Program (ECCDP) at Swiss-Belhotel, Regency of Merauke. It was part of Danau Bian Sanctuary Project (Bian Project), that would be the commitment realization of the company to conserve the environment and empower the local in Merauke.

It was conducted in strategic partnership with Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BBKSDA) Papua and the Regency of Merauke. The public consultation was about to reinforce the synergy among the stakeholders to conserve Danau Bian Sanctuary, support the local’s development sustainably.

The event was attended by many stakeholders, such as, the officials from the regency, the representatives from BBKSDA, environmental organizations, local non-government organizations, University of Cenderawasih, palm oil plantation companies that operated there, the local, suppliers, buyers, coordinators of village enterprises (BUMK), directors and staffs of PT BIA. The total was 95 particiapnts.

Regency of Merauke re-emphasized its support for the initiative. Justina Sianturi, I Assistant of Regency of Merauke Secretariat, that represented the regent of Merauke appreciated PT BIA for its active contribution to develop sustainably in the regency.

President Director of PT BIA, Kim Won Il emphasized that the collaboration would be about to confirm the beautiful nature, natural conservation and culture in Merauke so that the next generations would enjoy.

“We would do the best to encourage economic independency by delivering helps for the villages around. We hope there would be good cooperation among the government, the local, and private sector and would go on well always,” Kim Won Il said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (2/9/2024).

In the same chance, Yulius Palita, Head of Technic, BBKSDA Papua that represented the head of BBKSDA Papua said that the local would get more participation actively in the conservation program, not only as the object but also get involved in the cultivation and management.

The third public consultation would be the significant progress to realize the commitment of PT BIA to sustainable and environmental practices, develop the local in Merauke, reinforce the strategic partnership with BBKSDA Papua and Regency of Merauke. (T2)
