InfoSAWIT, PEKANBARU – General Director of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Qu Dongyu and General Director in duty of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture and some officials continued their visit in Riau after getting Agricola Medal from President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Friday (30/08). The visit was about to increase sustainable palm oil plantation governance in the province.
In the award event, Qu Dongyu admired Indonesia for the fast transformation in agricultural system by adopting sustainable principles even when the global scale – challenges, such as Covid-19 pandemic hit.
Palm oil plantations in Indonesia implement sustainable principles as the commitment of the government to escalate the competition in the global trade. The industries would be not only one biggest revenue provider but also people’s economic mobilizers by significantly hiring the workers.
As what InfoSAWIT got, quoted on Monday (2/9/2024), Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman also emphasized that Indonesia would have the big potential in food and energy sectors namely through the initiation to use crude palm oil in biodiesel program since 2019.
The visit reflected the same commitment between Ministry of Agriculture and FAO to increase sustainable palm oil plantation governance in Indonesia and should positively deliver impacts for economic progress and sustainable environment in the province. (T2)
