InfoSAWIT, SAMBAS – Damage and fire took place in palm oil mill of PT Wana Hijau Semesta (WHS) in Village of Sebunga, Sub district of Sajingan Besar, Regency of Sambas. That was the second time in the last month and raised worry for the local stakeholders.
On Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at about 11.00 WIB, a group that might be about 100 men, did damage and burn the assets of the company. It might be from the circulars that PT Alfa Ledo & Affiliasi to the palm oil mills around, suggested not to purchase stolen fresh fruit bunch (FFB).
Donny Aribowo, a witness and human resource development at PT Alfa Ledo & Afiliasi said that it was so quick, made the workers leave the office to save themselves. “Some men damaged because of FFB. As workers, we had to get out of the office because they damaged the inside parts of our office,” Donny said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Antara, Friday (30/8/2024).
The circulars that the company published could be the main trigger in the accident. The company mentioned the stolen FFB concerned and would have something to do with its operation. Even though some thieves were arrested and legally processed, it seemed it would not be good enough to stop the crime.
He also hoped the legal officers would firmly act to every FFB thief and the damage. “We hope the legal officers would serve the justice and business in the Regency of Sambas would be safer, more conducive because of the certainty of legal,” Donny said.
The same also happened on Wednesday, 23 July 2024 at the same location. At the time, PT Wana Hijau Semesta got big losses for the workers’ housing and mass were broken. Many expensive things were stolen. The total loss could be about Rp 70 million.
The company reported the two incidents to West Kalimantan Police and the latest one was registered on Report Document Number: STTLP/B/235/VII/2024/SPKT/Polda Kalimantan Barat. It is hoped the case would be immediately and seriously investigated by the authority. (T2)
