InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Ministry of Industry keeps developing palm oil downstream industries to increase the additional values of palm oil derivative products. This would be about to maintain Indonesia as the biggest palm oil producer in the world that reached 45,5 million metric tons per year.
Head of Industrial Service Policy and Standardization Agency or Badan Standardisasi dan Kebijakan Jasa Industri (BSKJI) Ministry of Industry, Andi Rizaldi said that palm oil downstream industries would produce not only vegetable oil but also other products, such as, stearin and barrier material for batik from palm oil shell.
“This would enable palm oil downstream products in batik and craft industries,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (30/8/2024).
In South Kalimantan Province, palm oil plantations laid on about 427.000 hectares and would potentially develop batik and craft industries in alm oil – base. To optimize the potential, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PO PFMA) and units of BSKJI conducted Palm Oil Product Diversification Promotion and Halal Workshop, and Woven Craft in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.
Head of Center of Standardization and Services for Handicraft and Batik Industry or Balai Besar Standardisasi dan Pelayanan Jasa Industri Kerajinan dan Batik (BBSPJIKB), Budi Setiawan said that the workshop would be about to increase the workers’ skills in the province to make written batik and woven crafts from natural non-textile fiber. By having competency certificate, the industries should take advantages on palm oil potential more optimal.
Anwar Sadat from PO PFMA said that the program would be about to develop batik industries, reinforce palm oil product images from Indonesia for the world particularly in halal product aspect. It is hoped to positively deliver impacts for the industries and increase the competition in the globe.
The same workshop would be the same in East Java in September 2024 as part of the continuous efforts to promote palm oil diversification products from Indonesia. (T2)
