InfoSAWIT, PELALAWAN – About 400 smallholders of Koperasi Kelapa Sawit Jasa Sepakat demonstrated on Wednesday, 21 August 2024. It was in front of first Mill of PT Sari Lembah Subur (SLS) in Sub district of Kerumutan, Regency of Pelalawan. They were not satisfied for the company’s policy about fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price.

As InfoSAWIT quoted from Catatanriau.com, they claimed that many smallholders got losses for unfair and not normal discount price. They also claimed about FFB purchase in the mill. Besides, they also protested about incentive realization about 4 (four) percent that was regulated by the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture (RMA) Number 01/PERMENTAN/KB.120/1/2018 about the grading system change to be 2,5% from tonnage and the extension of FFB time limit in the mill.

The smallholders thought, the mediation was running but had no satisfied results. They considered their aspirations were not fully accommodated by the company. That was why they did protest as one pressure (for the company).

When the protest took place, the management representative of PT SLS met some smallholders to get dialogue. The management mentioned they just realized every available regulation and suggested to keep protesting to the head quarter of the company. Even there was dialogue, there was no conclusion.

The demonstration ran peacefully and ended in the evening. The smallholders insisted to keep fighting for their rights to make everything happen. (T2)
