InfoSAWIT, MIMIKA – Plantation, Horticulture, and Food Plant Agency, Regency of Mimika, Central Papua Province is still developing 7.000 hectares palm oil plantations in the Village of Kiyura, Distrik Mimika Barat. The goal would be about to get crude palm oil (CPO) production to locally support the economy.
Head of Plantation, Horticulture, and Food Plant Agency, Regency of Mimika, Alice Wanma by phone on Monday (19/8) said that the plantations would be completed by CPO mill that would be officially operating in June or July 2025. “The palm oil plantations would be about more than 7.000 hectares in Village of Kiyura and so would the CPO mill be,” Alice said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Antara, Tuesday, (20/8/2024).
She thought, palm oil would massively deliver advantages (for the people), such as, as the basic material to produce palm cooking oil, cosmetics, pharmacy, chemicals, textile, papers, and bioenergy. “Besides palm oil plantations, we would have CPO mill that would enable us to independently process it in Mimika,” she said.
Alice explained that CPO could be taken for advantages as the material for vegetable fuel that would potentially generate power plants, deliver renewable solution for the regency.
The development would deliver economic advantages positively for the local in Village of Kiyura. "We hope palm oil plantations would operate well and deliver economic impacts for the local people,” Alice said.
She emphasized, palm oil plantations would be cultivated and prioritized by Papua Real People by hoping to deliver economic impacts for the local directly. (T2)
