InfoSAWIT, YOGYAKARTA - An innovative innovation came from LPP Yogyakarta Polytechnic students consisting of Dandi Syahrul Gunawan, Ridho Pardosi, Timbul Widodo, Muhammad Iqbal, and Nabillah Dwi Africia with the guidance of Aris Sandi, S.ST., M.Eng, and Lestari Hetalesi Saputri, S.T., M.Eng. They succeeded in creating natural printer ink using Empty Oil Palm Bunches (TKKS), a waste from the palm oil industry that was previously considered worthless.
What they produced was announced in the 2024 Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) that Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology conducted. The printer ink offered not only good printing quality consistently but also became the solution environmentally by taking advantages on the material that might be taken as waste.
"The innovation was from our concern to minimize environmental impacts from empty bunch which many considered as the waste. By having series of tests, we successfully create black pigment that can be used as printer ink," one member of the students said to InfoSAWIT, Sunday (10/8/2024).
They hoped the natural pink would be the alternative in printer ink producers sustainably, minimize the dependence on synthetic materials that are mostly used.
This means, Politeknik LPP Yogyakarta proved not only the capability of the students to make innovation but also delivered real contribution to promote sustainable materials in printing technology. The breakthrough should deliver new chances to develop the future sustainable industries. (T2)
