InfoSAWIT, SUBULUSSALAM - Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Indonesia conducted the socialization of International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for Forum Petani Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia (Fortasbi) at Hermes One Hotel Penanggalan Barat, Wednesday.
Secretary of Agriculture, Plantation, and Fishery Agency, City of Subulussalam, Erwinsyah, SP that attended the event said that 19 thousand of 30 thousand hectares of smallholders' palm oil plantations, belonged to the independent ones. “Many smallholders in the City of Subulussalam did not cultivate theirs professionally heading to Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and RSPO certificates,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from KBRN RRI, Friday (9/8/2024).
Erwinsyah also mentioned that ISPO is the national scale – standard for palm oil while RSPO is the international one. “We hope this event would make the smallholders in City of Subulussalam escalate their cultivation quality sustainably,” he said.
Wardiana, Smallholder Manager RSPO Indonesia emphasized the goal of the event would be about to accelerate the implementation of sustainable palm oil cultivation in Indonesia, involved many independent smallholders to realize sustainable cultivation. “RSPO is in cooperation with Fortasbi in IMO program that were running in 2023,” Wardiana said.
The implementations of IMO program were the socialization and same commitment with independent smallholders’ group in Aceh to develop sustainable cultivation through RSPO certification.
RSPO is one volunteer organization with many members in the globe, collaborates with many stakeholders from seven palm oil sectors to realize global scale standards in the production and procurement.
Many independent smallholders’ groups attended it, such as, Koperasi Sada Kata, Koptan Batu Napal, Koptan IPESADA, and Koperasi Taruna Sawit Lestari. (T2)
