Red Palm Oil in Musi Banyuasin Would Escalate the Smallholders’ Welfare

InfoSAWIT, MUSI BANYUASIN – Minister of Cooperation and Small and Medium Business, Teten Masduki said, red palm oil factory which has been contructed in the Regency of Musi Banyuasin would deliver the good for the smallholders in the regio. He said that in the ground breaking of red palm oil factory of Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) Sejahtera, last Friday.

Teten was optimist that this sector would escalate the added value from the smallholders’ plantations and have the potential to be the premium product sold in the markets. Even though it would have the striking color, red palm oil has been tested in its security and it would not change the taste and full of nutrients even after having deep frying.

“The Europe decided the terms and condition of cooking oil and should be clear but red palm oil has additional values in its components, such as, vitamin,” Teten said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Antara, Sunday (4/8/2024).

The factory that would have production capacity up to 0,5 ton per hour should get its production from about one thousand hectares palm oil plantations. This would be from two sub districts around. The project would be the big hope for the local, namely importers and restaurants that wanted red palm oil production.

Sandi Fahlepi, Regent in duty of Musi Banyuasin said that agriculture, namely plantation sector, would be the pillar of economy in the regency. For palm oil plantations dominate, red palm oil factory would be significantly encouraging the economy locally namely to escalate the smallholders’ welfare, such as, KUD Sejahtera.

Muhammad Tamrin, Chairman of KUD Sejahtera emphasized that they would be committed to support the construction which started since 1984. By having asset more than Rp 110 billion and good membership, KUD Sejahtera would be ready to contribute in red palm oil factory which is integrated with CPO factory to maximize the advantages for the smallholders themselves and the local.
