InfoSAWIT, SARAWAK – A migrant worker of Lombok Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), Gafur came to an end after being shot in palm oil plantation, Simpang Ngu, Niah, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. Consulate General of Indonesian Republic in Kuching still investigated the case.
As InfoSAWIT quoted from Antara, Friday (2/8/2024), General Consultant of Indonesia Republic in Kuching, R. Sigit Witjaksono saud that the late was getting autopsy by the local policy on Thursday (1/8/2024).
"The technical staff of Indonesian Police and protection team in the consulate and protection team would keep monitoring the case,” Sigit said.
The local Police Chief of Miri, Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that the institution got the news from the foreigner on Monday (29/7) at about 20.00 locally (19.00 WIB) about the dead body in a private palm oil company in Sepupok, Niah, Miri, Sarawak.
The first investigation from the local police revealed that the dead body was a foreigner but the citizenship was not mention. The local police still investigated the suspects, witness and evidences to help the investigation as regulated in Chapter 302 Kanun Keseksaan (KUHP).
The reports from Utusan Borneo mentioned that the victim was 40 years old and found with shot in the body, scars at his forehead, eyes, neck, and bailey I a private palm oil company. The local police of Miri said that the victim came to an end with the shot and scars in his body.
The case multiplied the incidents that had something to do with Indonesia migrant in other country. The Government of Indonesia through General Consulate of Indonesian Republic promised to always monitor the case and would serve the justice for the victim.
The Gafur family in Lombok Timur had been informed about the accident and the victim would be immediately taken to Indonesia and be buried. The Government of Indonesia suggested that every migrant worker should be aware and reporting every threat or violence to the local authority or nearest general consulate. (T2)
