InfoSAWIT, BENGKULU – Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) Training in cooperation with General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture, and Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (POPFMA) conducted financial administration and management training in palm oil plantation human resource in Bengkulu Province on 23-26 July 2024 and joined by 28 smallholders from Regency of Bengkulu Utara.
Bengkulu Province had 413.000 hectares palm oil plantaitons and 77% of the numbers belonged to the people. "Palm oil plantations in Bengkulu Province laid on about 413.000 hectares. 77,15% of the numbers belonged to the people, while the rests were cultivated by the private sectors,” Head of Food Plants, Horticulture, and Plantation Agency Bengkulu Province, M. Rizon said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (29/7/2024).
Chairman of Secretariat Team of Palm Oil Plantation Human Resource General Directorate of Plantation, Eva Lizarmi said the planters played significant roles to the economic stability in this nation. “During the pandemic, palm oil was one commodity that positively showed progress. The smallholders massively contributed to the welfare and development in plantation sectors in Indonesia,” Eva said.
Dwi Rachmina, Trainer of IPB Training said that the training would be about to get ambassador from other planters, to share knowledge and skills. “We do hop the participants would follow up their knowledge from here to others in Bengkulu Utara,” Dwi said in the training.
Team Chairman in Employment and Instrituion, Pusat Pelatihan Pertanian BPPSDMP Ministry of Agriculture, M. Apuk Ismane said that the government’s supports would be significant to empower the planters’ economic institutions. The supports should cover four main aspects, such as the prime service for the smallholders, partnership with village enterprises, development in downstream industries, and budget allocation for counseling.
By the training, it is hoped the planters in Bengkulu would escalate their skills in financial administration and management which eventually supported the regional and national scale economic development. The multi-party support would be very important to get the goal. (T2)
