Smallholders in Malang: Complained about the Cheap FFB

InfoSAWIT, MALANG – The smallholders in the Regency of Malang complained the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) selling price was cheap and the payment was always be postponed. Samenun, a smallholder from Sub district of Gedangan said, FFB price would be a loss for them. He thought, FFB selling price that the government decided at about Rp 3 thousand per kilogram, but the company just paid Rp 1 thousand per kilogram.

Samenun explained that the payment by the company was always late up to four to six months. This made their financial management a mass. “It is so cheap. We sold it but the payment was too late. Sometimes, we would get the payment after four to six months,” he when attending the inauguration of Kelompok Tani Nelayan Andalan (KTNA) Regency of Malang said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from TribunJatim, Friday (26/7/2025).

He hoped the government would respond the issue fast. He thought, Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (APKSI) had responded the smallholders’ complaint by making workshop in Malang to get solution. “In the late days, we were responded for our report to the smallholders’ association. Alhamdulillah, e got the response and there was workshop in Malang. Palm oil plantations would be developed in the Regency of Malang,” Samenun explained.

Regent of Malang, Sanusi said that APKSI and Ministry of Agriculture did conduct workshop in the regency to enliven the spirit of smallholders. “Many abandoned areas here to be planted by palm oil. It would not need much water or complicated nursery,” he said by hoping that by conducting the workshop, palm oil plantation potential in the regency would develop more.

Chairman of KTNA Regency of Malang, Choirul Anam said that the smallholders would need solution so that their harvest would not be sold out of Java for the unstable selling price. “The production gets more and more every day. For all these years, they sold it to other regions. The price was not determined by the general trade. It depended on others’ will. If there are lots of needs, FFB price could be expensive but when the production got much, it got cheaper,” he said.

Choirul mentioned many palm oil plantaitons developed in the regency, namely in Sub district of Donomulyo and Gedangan. The land is dry but good to develop palm oil. By this, he hoped to get solution to get stable price and better payment system to the smallholders in the Regency of Malang. (T2)
