InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Democratic party was conducted in Indonesia. There would be new president that would be inaugurated in October 2024. The legislators are also parts of the previous five year - general election.
Media InfoSAWIT congratulates the new elected President and Vice President Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka for 2024 - 2029, as General Election Commission decided. After the democratic party was over, there would be lots of works to do, namely in sustainable palm oil cultivation because these industries, from upstream to downstream industries, have many issues that may never come to an end.
Sustainable palm oil business challenges and issues should be parts of maturation for being 113 years commercially managed and developed in Indonesia.
After El Nino that caused long dry season in 2023, it is now La Nina in 2024. The 2024 climate would be different from it in 2023.
Geophysics, Climatology, and Meteorology Agency (GCMA) predicted, La Nina this year would have highly rain intensity. The rain would be falling down in many regions in Indonesia, would make flood and slide. In general, La Nina in Indonesia would be getting flood risks. On the other hand, the temperature would be low in the day. There would be tropical storms. The increasing rain fall change would happen in West Pacific and Australia. In the contrary, South America would be dry.
Palm oil plantations have something to do with water. Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) mentioned, palm oil plantations would develop well in wet tropical regions. The plantations should be at 120 North Latitude (NL) – 120 South Latitude (SL) in Indonesia. According to Schmidth-Ferguson, palm oil plantaitons would grow well with the A, B, C climate types. Area elevation should be at 0 – 600 meters (m) under the sea level (dpl).
What about Palm Oil?
According to climate classification by Schmidt-Ferguson, the good height of palm oil plantations should be at 0-600 meters under the sea level. If the plantations are at 0 – 400 meters under the sea level, according to PPKS, the temperature would be at 27 – 32 Celsius degrees. This is good to develop palm oil plantations.
0f course, having the best area quality for palm oil plantations, the needs of nutrition for the plantations would tend to be more efficient. The harvest productivity would tend to be bigger and more profitable. This is it that sustainable cultivation practices are significant to develop palm oil in the plantations.
The climate components also play roles to develop palm oil plantations, such as, temperature, rain, and moisture. By implementing the best and sustainable management practices, the plantations would deliver the best productivity in the harvest.
The smallholders’ plantations in Indonesia would keep developing. They also play big roles to sustainable palm oil business. By empowering them, the plantations would be developing and going forward.
Media InfoSAWIT, through the publication of Buku Panduan Sawit in 2022 “Perkebunan Sawit Rakyat”, discussed smallholders’ palm oil plantations completely. The issues are dominated by the cultivation and finance. Through the book, the experts in their own fields, the Government of Indonesia, have thought and got special tips to develop smallholders’ plantations.
These are the roles of Media InfoSAWIT to encourage the policies published by the Government of Indonesia and the finance should be in synergy with many parties to develop the smallholders’ plantations.
