InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk., (AALI), Santosa delivered announcement one significant thing to the journey of the company by joining Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
“The decision is the same with the long term – strategies of AAL to escalate sustainability that has been running for some years,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (11/7/2024).
He also said that the company in land use, conservation, community supports, mitigation to climate impacts, and circularity developed the strong foundation to get RSPO certificate. He would believe that the initiatives would help AAL to qualify sustainability criteria that would be internationally acknowledged.
Meanwhile, CEO RSPO, JD Cruz did welcome the commitment of AAL to sustainability and admire its decision to be RSPO member. “We are pleased that Astra Agro gets the significant move which the same with sustainability goal,” Cruz said.
He also thought AAL would immediately join the global scale – partnership that consist of more than 6.000 members that also dedicated to make palm oil production sustainably. RSPO secretariat would fully support AAL to go forward by this historic move.
The membership of AAL in RSPO would be the significant moment of the company, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable practices. By obeying RSPO standards, AAL would decide the benchmark in palm oil industries, show that environment responsibility and successful business would go in the same ways. This would be escalating the reputation of the company and positively contributing to produce sustainable products globally.
Now AAL would continue its journey heading to certification, comprehensive approach to sustainability and everything would be carefully monitored by many industries and other environmental activists. (T2)
