InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo instructed to solve every palm oil plantation issue that related to smallholders. It should get the solution in one month only. Coordinator Minister in Economy and Vice Chairman of Palm Oil Task Force, Airlangga Hartarto said that after attending internal meeting with President Joko Widodo in Istana Kepresidenan, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/7/2024).
The issues also covered the discussion about reulation and area use for palm oil plantations. “At the principle, it is about ‘too late’ issue and the areas developed for palm oil plantations. It was the discussion. There would be time. President urged to finish the issue in one month,” Airlangga said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Antara, Wednesday (10/7/2024).
He also said that Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja delivered time (three years) for palm oil plantation owners to adjust the regulation. Now it is over and the government would follow up every fault about it.
Besides, in 2023, smallholders replanting program (SRP) significantly got wider, it covered 53.012 hectares to 30.759 hectares in 2022. The fund distributed reached Rp 1,5 trillion and handed over to 21.020 planters.
Airlangga also said one main issue to conduct SRP is the regulation that may have issues with the smallholders’ (plantations).
From the record, SRP realization in 2023 got escalated 72,35 percent to 2022. (T2)
