InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) reconducted the 5th Planters Talkshow in Medan. It happened for the successful previous event in the same city. The talkshow was at Karibia Boutique Hotel on 5 July 2024 and continued to get field trip to PT Socfindo Indonesia on 6 July 2024.

It became the significant talkshow about innovation, technic development and Ganoderma control in palm oil plantations. There were 215 participants attending it. They consisted of the employees from big palm oil plantation companies, academy, and representatives from regional governments.

In his speech, Chairman of IPS, Jamalul said that the talkshow started from the concerns of the planters in IPS about Ganoderma that would threaten the plantations nationally.

Moreover, the history of palm oil plantations in Indonesia started from North Sumatera in 1911 next to Liput River, Pulo Raja and Deli Muda, North Sumatera Province. It means, if the economical palm oil trees could be at 25 years old, nowadays plantations/trees would be in the fifth generations namely in North Sumatera.

“That is why it is no doubt if this would deliver consequences to root issues, such as, Ganoderma that palm oil trees may suffer from,” Jamalul said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Saturday (6/7/2024).

Ganoderma raised to be the issue when IPS conducted the 3rd Seminar Nasional Planter Indonesia (SNPI) in Jakarta in May 2024. That is why IPS initiated to join many palm oil plantation stakeholders in the planters talkshow with the theme "Inovasi Terkini Pengendalian Ganoderma yang Berkelanjutan di Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Berdasarkan Penelitian dan Praktek Lapangan".

"We do hope that the researchers, academy, and practitioners in palm oil plantations would keep cooperating to control Ganoderma and the plantations as the revenue contributor and source of future energy would be sustainable always,” he said.

Meanwhile Committee Chairman of the 5th Planters Talkshow, M Gema Aliza Putra appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm in the event. “The participants consist of the professional planters, academy, researchers, and independent planters,” he said.

Gema also appreciated them that supported the event, particularly, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency for always supporting IPS. “We do hope this would deliver the very good impacts to control Ganoderma,” Gema said. (T2)
