InfoSAWIT, SINTANG – Chairman of Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), Sabarudin officially described the mini palm oil mill that belonged to the members of SPKS in Village of Telaga Dua, Regency of Sintang, West Kalimantan Province. This would be the way for the members of SPKS to realize their dreams to process their plantation products.

Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Tuah Telaga would be the model of action in national level from independent smallholders to process their own plantations. Their independence to process the harvest would be part of SPKS in organizing the members.

“This mini mill would be the model and pilot project for SPKS nationally,” Sabarudin said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (2/7/2024).

He also said the field facts of independent smallholders showed that many of them should sell their fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production to the middlemen. That is why, independent process by constructing mini mill that the cooperation has had, could be the solution from what they were facing.

The mini mill that belongs to Gapoktan Tuah Telaga was officially inaugurated by Regent of Sintang dr. H. Jarot Winarno and Chairman of SPKS, Sabarudin (28/6/2024). Regent Jarot thought, the mini mill would be part of facility of the regional government for independent smallholders. If they successfully process their plantations well, the mini mill would be producing crude palm oil (CPO) as well.

“As part of man’s needs in CPO material, such as, palm cooking oil, margarine, soap, and cosmetics,” Regent Jarot said.

The mini mill that belongs to Gapoktan Tuah Telaga, he continued, would be the pioneer for other villages in Regency of Sintang. (T1)
