Wilmar Took Instiper to Create Palm Oil Superior Human Resources through Scholarship

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Wilmar, one of global scale - palm oil companies, took Institut Pertanian Stipper (Instiper) Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta to create the skillful candidates in this sector. The scholarship that the company has been giving, should open wider access in higher education and prepare the worker candidates that would be adjustable in palm oil industries.

Human Capital Head Wilmar, Erlina Panitri said that the scholarship would be one effort of the company to increase the access in higher education for the workers’ children and the people with the lack of income around the company’s operational areas. The goal would be about they will get skills needed and have chance to get better lives.

“For all these years, many children did not have much but have will to get higher education. Through Wilmar Indonesia Scholarship ini, we would like to bridge it,” Erlina said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday, 26 June 2024.

Besides providing access to get higher education, Wilmar and Instiper would prepare the superior worker candidates that would be adjustable in palm oil industries. This should support their education and contribute to develop sustainable palm oil industries. The selection of getting scholarship would involve the teachers from the schools of candidates and Instiper would confirm the quality of each candidate.

By the scholarship, Wilmar would provide some facilities, such as, living costs, education, development, monitoring, study materials, teachers from the company’s workers, and chance to get internship. “We have prepared these since in the college. The graduate would be ready professionally,” Erlina said.

Until now, Wilmar has accomplished one generation of work commitment that last for eight years. Most of the graduate are in strategic positions and would be the figure keys in their units. In the future, the company would cooperate with other universities in Indonesia.

In the previous generations, Wilmar had work commitment for those that got scholarship to work at the company. But start from this year, the company would give option for the participants that got scholarship to get careers in Wilmar or other companies. “Our goal is about to empower them to get many careers both in Wilmar and others, and be positively contributing for the industries and the people,” she said.
