PT RPN Conducted Palm Oil Cultivation Technical Training with the Supports from PFMA and General Directorate of Plantation; Involved 103 Participants

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - PT. Riset Perkebunan Nusantara (RPN) re-conducted palm oil cultivation technical training. It was supported by Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) and General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture. It was joined by 103 participants (smallholders) from Regency of Labuhan Batu Utara, North Sumatera Province. It was divided into three phases. The training itself would last for six days, or from 24 to 29 June 2024 in Medan.

The training would be the implementation of development program in Sumber Daya Manusia Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (SDMPKS). The goal would be about to escalate the smallholders’ capacity and skills in cultivation technic.

Director of PT RPN, Iman Yani Harahap said that the company got trust from PFMA and General Directorate of Plantation to conduct the training with some modules, such as, palm oil cultivation technic.

“The training was joined by the smallholders from Regency of Labuhanbatu Utara, North Sumatera Province with some goals to achieve," Harahap said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (26/6/2024).

The other goals of the training were the smallholdrs should know about area preparation, nursing the plants, and how to control plant pest organism.

“In the implementation, PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara (RPN) through Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) significantly played its roles to deveop human resources in palm oil sectors. PPKS is dedicated to escalate their knowledge, skills, and capacity in this business,” Harahap said.

The materials covered up the policies and regulations in palm oil plantations, the materials to plant, area preparations, planting technic, nursing, and plant pest control (pests, diseases, and weeds).

Herly Kurniawan, the Secretary of SDM PKS Development Team in General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture; M. Apuk Ismane as the Chairman of Work Team in Training Labor and Institution BPPSDMP, Ministry of Agriculture, and Head of Livestock and Plantation Agency North Sumatera Province, Benua Pane really appreciated the training.

Head of Agriculture Agency, Regency of Labuhanbatu Utara, Sudarija also appreciated PFMA, General Directorate of Plantation and Livestock and Plantation Agency North Sumatera for their supports to conduct the training. It was about theories and field practices.

One smallholder, Asnan said that he was very lucky to get the chance. “I thank PFMA and General Directorate of Plantation for the chance to join the training. By having materials from every instructor, we do hope to go home and apply what we have got,” he said.

To get more understanding about area map technic, PT RPN took the smallholders to visit the plantations of PT Adolina that belonged to PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV in Sub district of Perbaungan, Regency of Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatera Provnce to practice what they got during the training. (T2)
