InfoSAWIT, JAYAPURA – PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP) dan PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM), the subsidiaries of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) that operate in Regency of South Sorong and Maybrat, showed their commitment to protect female workers/labor and children in their operational. The commitment was delivered in seminar and workshop conducted by Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) Papua with the theme “Promosi Sawit Indonesia Ramah Anak di Papua”, in Jayapura on 5 - 6 June 2024.
It was part of IPOA to realize sustainable palm oil industries by protecting children in palm oil plantation (activities). IPOA hoped the companies in the province would implement good business principles by taking care of the children’s right in palm oil plantation sectors.
In his presentation, Adhika Karuna, Head of HR Shared Services Reg 1,2 and 3 and also the representative of ANJ delivered explanation about some initiatives and programs that ANJ conducted to protect female workers and children, such as, gender equity to confirm that there would be representatives of female in the company. Besides, LKS Bipartit program and gender committee significantly play the roles to highly carry up the company’s commitment on human rights and firmly forbid children to work in every operational of the company.
In every ANJ Group, the company also provides education, health, and welfare facility. The commitment is about to protect female workers and support the children’s development, smartness, and welfare.
“In ANJ Group, we believe that protecting female workers and children would be not only social responsibility but also the foundation for the better future. We are committed to make sure that every female worker and child would have the rights to feel secured and every aspect of their lives would be protected and supported. Every initiative and effort that the company does would be useful and positively contributing for the people (as well) to socially and sustainably encourage the change,” Adhika Karuna said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (14/6/2024).
In his speech, Governor in duty of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun read by Assistant II in Economy and Welfare Papua Secretariat, Setyo Wahyudi hoped that it would be significant to get social responsibility in palm oil plantation cultivation.
He wanted that Papua would be the successful sample of economic development and children’s rights protection, and committed to implement children friendly – practices. “It is important to have social responsibility to manage and cultivate palm oil plantation by making Papua as the successful sample from economic development and children protection integration and commitment to implement children – friendly practices sustainably,” Setyo said.
Tulus Sianipar, Chairman of IPOA Papua said that the seminar would be part of collaboration among IPOA, PAACLA Indonesia, and Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PDMA) to implement business principles and children’s rights in Papua palm oil plantations. (T2)
