Extreme Weather and Geopolitics Issues Had Something to do with the 2023 Financial Performance of ANJ

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Director of Finance, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ), Nopri Pitoy said that the 2023 and first quarter 2024 performance of the company had something to do with some factors.

Extreme weather, economic condition, and geopolitics issues globally made uncertainty. These had something to do with crude palm oil (CPO) demands and price, and ANJ financial performance.

In his expose, Nopri said El Nino phenomenon that occurred from the midst to the late of 2023 significantly delivered impacts for many regions where ANJ operated or from the west to east of Indonesia.

In South West Papua, intensive high rain made over moisture and eventually made many diseases, flood in North Sumatera II because of river flood around.

In Pulau Belitung and West Kalimantan, the plantations got dried because of El Nino and it made heat stess for pollination bugs and fruits to be were not optimal. This condition is known as partenokarpi, making fresh fruit bunch lighter and low productivity.

“We are committed to maintain our production quality and reach out the targets of the company when climate changes fast. The mitigation efforts of ANJ showed the commitment to adapt with climate anomaly and make sure business sustainability by implementing regenerative agricultural system in our plantation cultivation,” Nopri said in public expose that InfoSAWIT attended, Wednesday (5/6/2024).
