PFMA, General Directorate of Plantation and IPB Training Did Cultivation Training for 89 Smallholders in Aceh

InfoSAWIT, BANDA ACEH – Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency, General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture, and PT. Global Scholarship Services Indonesia (Institut Pertanian Bogor/IPB Training) conducted palm oil cultivation technical training in Aceh Province for the grade 1, 3, and 4. It was running on 13-17 May 2024 in the Hotel Grand Nanggroe Aceh, Banda Aceh, Aceh Province.

As the speaker team from IPB, Hariyadi said that palm oil has become the mainstay of exports to other countries for being contributed in exchange up to Rp 600 trillion per year, surpassed the exchange from oil and gas that reached Rp 200.000 billion per year.

“Now palm oil has become the hero of national scale – economy that save our economy in the recession eras in 1998 and Covid in 2019 – 2020” he said in the opening ceremony of the program in 2024 for the grade 1, 3, and 4.

“The training to develop palm oil human resource development with the participants about 25 smallholders from Regency of West Aceh and 64 smallholders from Regency of Nagan Raya. The goal would be about to escalate their knowledge and skills to nurse palm oil plantations and escalate their skills and insight to control pest organism in palm oil plantations,” he said as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (4/6/2024).

Head of Plantation Agency Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Aceh Province, Fakhrurrazi in his speech representing the Head of Agriculture Agency Aceh, Cut Huzaimah said that the government really supports palm oil plantation sustainability by hoping that the training would help the smallholders to escalate their harvest and welfare.

Head of Agriculture Counseling and Human Reseource Agency, Mukhlis said, one weakness in palm oil plantations in the province was the minimal regenerations of doing (palm oil) business. He hoped that training would help young generations to continue the parents’ business better.

The training was joined by 89 smallholders from the two regencies. They got theory in the class and field visit to PT Agro Sinergi Nusantara to see in person how the good palm oil cultivation runs.

The field visit was divided to be three locations, they were, the mature plants, seeds, and immature plants. They got materials and sample of palm oil seeds, the good and effective harvest technic. They were very enthusiastic in the field visit and they questioned a lot.

“It is hoped the training would be the place for every participant to get wider knowledge and more specific about mill to get personal advatnages and the progress of Indonesia’s palm oil sectors,” Hariyadi said. (T2)
