InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource (EMR) through Balai Besar Pengujian Minyak dan Gas Bumi (BBPMGB) LEMIGAS did diesel test that is mixed with vegetable fuel – biodiesel for about 40% or known as B40. The focus would be out of automotive in 2024.
Head of BBPMGB LEMIGAS, Mustafid Gunawan said that the institution did conduct startability test for generator set of a hall by applying B40. “The government through BBPMGB LEMIGAS as the implementor would be testing B40 in generator set and other industrial vehicles,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (31/5/2024).
The test was for four generator sets of a hall within four different brands around BBPMGB LEMIGAS. It started on 20 May 2024 and would be finished on 16 October 2024. The parameter test to be observed about the generators would cover the environment temperature, the moisture, temperature of B40, oil temperature, and battery voltage.
Startability test was inaugurated by Head of LEMIGAS that was represented by Coordinator of Product Application Test Team, Cahyo Widodo. It was also attended by the representatives of General Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conversion, APROBI, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency, MIGAS, PT PLN, PT PLN PUSLITBANG, and Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN). After the opening ceremony, there was description about startability test preparation and the visit to some generators to get test in the surroundings of LEMIGAS.
B40 Test in Train
Besides testing B40 in generator sets of halls, BBPMGB LEMIGAS did B40 test for train. As part of the test, BBPMGB LEMIGAS was in cooperation with PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), PT. Pertamina Patra Logistik, and Kereta Api Logistik to get the same inspection at Depo Arjawinangung, Cirebon, West Java on 14 May 2024.
"In the phase, LEMIGAS did infrastructure development survey to get B40 preparation test in train. With every expert, the survey ran smoothly,” Mustafid said.
For information, Ministry EMR did manage B30 distribution for about 13,41 million kiloliters (kl) in 2024. The quota was decided based on the B35 successful distribution in 2023. (T2)
