InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Crude palm oil (CPO) production in Indonesia significantly got escalated in March 2024. The latest data published by Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), CPO production reached 4.102 thousand tons, got escalated 5,50% from 3.888 thousand tons in February 2024.
“The increasing production happened in palm kernel oil (PKO) that reached 5,97% from 369 thousand tons in February 2024 to be 391 thousand tons in March 2024 because the work days in March were longer than those in February,” Executive Director of IPOA, Mukti Sardjono said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (29/5/2024).
On the other hand, he continued, the domestic consumption also got escalated in March 2024 that reached 1,40% to February 2024, or from 1.864 thousand tons to be 1.898 thousand tons. CPO consumption for food sectors significantly increased 7,54%, or 827 thousand tons from 769 thousand tons in February. Oleochemical consumption did escalate 6,86%, or from 175 thousand tons in February to be 187 thousand tons in March.
“But biodiesel consumption did decrease in March that reached 3,95% or from 920 thousand tons in February to be 884 thousand tons in March,” Mukti said.
Though biodiesel sector got decreased, the increasing in food and oleochemical sectors showed the increasing demands in the domestic.
In a whole, the increasing CPO production and consumption reflected the positive dynamic in palm oil industries. This also happened for the seasonal factors and the increasing domestic demands. This delivered the positive for palm oil industries nationally to face the challenges and opportunities in the globe. (T2)
