InfoSAWIT, MAMUJU – West Sulawesi Province keeps trying its best to manage palm oil area conflict between PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk., and the villagers in Regency of Pasangkayu.
"We do our best to manage palm oil area conflict between PT Mamuang and the local to get the best solution for both parties,” Muhammad Iksan Mustari, Head of Government in Government Bureau and People’s Welfare West Sulawesi Secretariat, said in Mamuju, as quoted from Antara.
He also explained the conflicts started when the villagers did harvest palm oil (fresh fruit bunch/FFB) in the plantation that PT Mamuang claimed as its. It is assumed, the official from Kesatuan Pengelolaan Hutan (KPH) provocated the local to harvest the plantations that PT Mamuang had its business rights.
“The result of the provocation was that the local harvested FFB where PT Mamuan claimed as its and this triggered the conflicts,” he said.
The province and Regency of Pasangkayu planned to manage mediation to get the fair and peaceful solution. “We would take both parties to get the same dialogue and involve other stakeholders in Regency of Pasangkayu to get the solution,” Ihsan said.
Regency of Pasangkayu would get inventory about the area conflict to be the reference. “Inventory of the issue would be constructively conducted and in phase based on available regulations to solve the case with the authority and would not take longer,” he said.
Iksan hoped the mediation from the government would run well and get the best solution for both sides. “We hope the mediation would get the solution without harming the parties,” he said. (T2)
