
InfoSAWIT, DEN HAAG – General Secretary of Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), Dr. Rizal A. Lukman led the delegations of CPOPC to meet the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). It was about to get deeper discussion about the readiness before European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) would be implemented in December 2024 in all countries in the continent.
In the meeting, Dr. Rizal said the progress of palm oil traceability tools in the exporter countries – National Dashboard from Indonesia and e-Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (e-MSPO) from Malaysia. The tools were designed to escalate traceability and transparency of palm oil supply in each country.
The representative of NVWA explained that online management tool from European Commission for EUDR is known as TRACES. The system would be the main platform to manage and monitor the obedience about deforestation regulation in each European country.
“CPOPC is committed to facilitate the technical meeting with the related authority in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Netherland. The meeting would discuss how to apply or use traceability tools available to support the obedience in EUDR,” CPOPC noted in its official website, as InfoSAWIT quoted, Monday (27/5/2024).
It means the initiative would show the same effort to make sure that palm oil supply chain would qualify sustainability standards as regulated by European Union and escalate transparency and traceability in palm oil industries globally. (T2)
