InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA -Until now economic development in the regions do not hit villagers’ economic welfare. Forum Pengembangan Pembaharuan Desa (FPPD), found that palm oil plantation productivity and expansion that drastically escalate do not guarantee the independent smallholders’ life quality and welfare.
Some regencies in Riau Province are palm oil suppliers and regional gross domestic product contributors significantly but in fact, there are relatively high poverty levels.
What FPPD found was supported by Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) by trying to formulate Desa Sawit Lestari after the publication of Laws Number 6 / 2014 about Village through Buku Praktis Merintis Desa Sawit Lestari.
The book written by Borni Kurniawan, Farid Hadi Rahman, Wahyu W Basjir would describe how to realize sustainable palm oil villages.
The book would inform the history of plantations, palm oil governance, the institution and consolidation of desa bersawit and sawit berdesa and would be described more in the chapters, such as, mapping the vegetable and village farmers’ interests, the authority of desa bersawit and propose the budget in sustainable palm oil villages.
There would be pictures in the book to ease the readers to digest the proposal in sustainable palm oil villages which the base would be about to escalate the roles of villages to increase the economy in commodity – base. (T2)
