InfoSAWIT, SANGGAU – Saturday, 23 March 2024, Regent in duty of Sanggau, Suherman inaugurated Seminar Transisi Berkeadilan di Perkebunan Sawit that was conducted in the hall of Sub district of Toba. It was the collaboration between Teraju Indonesia and labors federation in West Kalimantan Province.

In his speech, Suherman told that the main goal of the seminar was to deliver better understanding about transition concept and its relevance about labor condition in palm oil plantation companies.

Fair transition as the main focus would be about to struggle for the chance heading to more sustainable and fairer economy, and confirm that no parties would be put aside or getting loss in the process.

Palm oil plantation companies, as one important economic sector, need to be optimally and sustainably managed. This is about to reinforce the economy in the region, escalate the people’s welfare, and maintain environmental conservatioin. Suherman also told the better governance would be the conditions and important infrastructure to support economic, social, and governance sustainability for the stakeholders.

To escalate palm oil plantation governance, the central government published sustainable palm oil certification system as in the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture Number 19 / 2011 that Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil would be mandatory. (T2)
