InfoSAWIT, ACEH UTARA - Koperasi Berkat Bunga Damai Cotgirek, Aceh Utara announced the significant achievement to encourage sustainability in palm oil industries. The unioin accomplished independent smallholders’ palm oil plantations that laid on about 1.550 hectares and involved 500 registered smallholders, Friday (22/3/2024).
This would be about to reinforce their commitment to RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) standards as regulated in the President’s Regulation Number 44 / 2025 about ISPO.
Chairman of Koperasi Berkat Bunga Damai Cotgirek Aceh Utara, Abubakar AR told that it is on process not to get early proposal. The union has scheduled to get the final audit by the late of September 2024. RSPO and ISPO certificates, as they hoped for, would deliver big advantages for independent smallholders and would get grant and incentive credits. As part of the grant, it would be allocated to buy fertilizers as one main need for the smallholders.
Abubakar AR also emphasized the commitment to support their sustainable plantations. He is optimist, the union would get grant from Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) through General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture. “The proposal (to get grant) was online through infrastructure program and they believe to get it,” he said to InfoSAWIT, Sunday (24/3/2024).
He also mentioned the union is waiting for the revision of regulation of minister of agriculture. The smallholders also believed to qualify the terms and conditions in the regulation.
By having available infrastructures and human resources, including management, and operators in mill, the union is ready to operate the mill to be one integrated package.
To confirm that the process would smoothly run. Abubakar AR regularly visited the related instances, such as, General Directorate of Plantation to discuss what to do next. They would do field visit after Idul Fitri to feasibility study and environment analysis with the international – scale supports, such as, USAID Segar. (T2)
