InfoSAWIT, NORTH ACEH - Koperasi Berkat Bunga Damai Cotgirek in Regency of North Aceh launched a training program to escalate its members’ capacity. It was running on the smallholders’ plantations and attended by about 30 members from three different villages, such as, Cotgirek, Seureuke, and Lubok Pusaka in Sub district of Cotgirek, Langkahan, North Aceh.

Chairman of Koperasi Berkat Bunga Damai Cotgirek Aceh Utara, Abubakar AR told that the smallholders that joined Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification process would get many advantages. The cooperation planned to get RSPO certificate in October 2024 which would be handed over in Thailand.

By having RSPO certificate, the cooperation would get credit incentive of RSPO about 2 million rupiah. The fund credit from RSPO would be used to deliver free of charge – fertilizers for the members by hoping that they would escalate their plantation harvest by applying regular fertilization.

“We want that the smallholders registered in RSPO and ISPO certificate program would be one step ahead to escalate their harvest. The cooperation would do the best to get selling document to cooperate in fresh fruit bunch purchase with palm oil mills,” Abubakar said to InfoSAWIT, Friday (8/3/2024).

By having official selling document, the smallholders would easily sell their own harvests because the cooperation would directly hand it over for them. Abubakar promised to support their members that got ISPO certificate to go forward in many forms, including in harvest stable price when they sell it.

The training for smallholders in Village of Seureuke was on 30 - 31 January 2024, it was attended by auditors from Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) represented by Novet Charles Akollo; Head of Village of Seureuke, Aziz Rusmiono; heads of Dusun Seureuke and Cermai in Village of Lubok Pusaka.

The auditor from SPKS, Novet did welcome the good things by the chairman of the cooperation who is also the chairman of SPKS North Aceh. He told that the program would deliver profits for smallholders namely in RSPO credit to get. (T2)
