University Should be the Front Guard to Develop SISKA

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – University plays crucial roles to encourage sustainable development and innovation, including the palm oil – cow integrated program of sistem integrasi sapi sawit (SISKA).

Center for Tropical Animal Studies (Centras) or Pusat Studi Hewan Tropis, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) University actively proved that they did informative visit to PT Simbiosis Karya Agroindustri (SISKA Ranch) in District of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan Province.

PT Simbiosis Karya Agroindustri was taken as the best location to implement and practice SISKA program. The goal of the visit was about to formulate innovation development target of SISKA to be right on target more and reinforce main – plasma partnership model in SISKA with the active supports from related parties.

Head of Centras IPB University, Prof Nahrowi told that by having series of visit agenda, the participants would understand deeper about animal woof process, breeding cows regularly, use portable electric branch in SISKA program. Besides, they also got insight about stockman management, knew about cow colonies, the making of palm oil side products to be SISKAFEED and PALMOFEED, and other interesting issues in SISKA.

They also discussed about SISKA Collaborative Research and Dissemination (SCRD), that involved lecturers in faculty of livestock from many universities in Indonesia. Pusat Kajian Perkelapasawitan IPB University and Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) attended the agenda.

Prof Nahrowi hoped series of agenda in the field visit would encourage the harmony for every party that involved to develop SISKA model. “And would lay hand in every innovation about SISKA to support sustainable palm oil plantations,” he said.

By involving universities actively, SISKA would have big chances to keep developing and positively contributing to realize sustainable palm oil plantations in the future. (T2)
