InfoSAWIT, PALANGKA RAYA – Fresh fruit bunch (TBS) stealing in many palm oil plantations in Central Kalimantan Proince is the issue now. For instance, hundreds of villagers of Suka Mandang, Sub district of Seruyan Tengah, District of Seruyan, Central Kalimantan took part in massive harvest in palm oil plantations in the region.
Panglima Barisan Pertahanan Adat Dayak (BATAMAD) Brigjen TNI Purn Yuandrias thought that the stealing happened for (a) reasons.
He thought, every party, such as, the regional government, stakeholders, security, and indigenous people of Dayak, needs to get synergy to identify the roots of the problem and get solution sustainably.
“Regional government, stakeholders, security officers, and indigenous people of Dayak need to discuss it and get solution,” Yuandrias said in a press conference in Palangka Raya, Sunday, 3 December 2023.
Yuandrias thought there should be firm action to every actor if stealing FFB including the plantation companies if they disobey their obligation, such as, do not do plasma partnership.
As quoted from Mediusnews.com, Panglima BATAMAD also encouraged other legal officers to firmly act to deliver signal that every stealing is intolerance. He was sorry for what local smallholders and plantation companies got losses because of the stealing. In this context, he hoped that there would be comprehensive solution to get the issue end and realize sustainable investment that delivers profits for many parties particularly the people.
Meanwhile Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) suggested its members not to purchase FFB from the stealing. Chairman of IPOA, Eddy Martono emphasized that it needs to stop the stealing because there would be more FFB stealing and would be against the law.
This condition raised worry for the stakeholders and IPOA is committed to encourage prevention. By the suggestion, it is hoped that there would be collective awareness in the stakeholders not to involve in stealing trade which eventually would help to minimize FFB stealing that delivered losses for many parties in the province.
