East Kalimantan Plantation Agency Took TSI to encourage ISPO Certification in Paser

InfoSAWIT, PASER – East Kalimantan Plantation Agency is in cooperation with certification institution, TSI to conduct Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) audit in Koperasi Produsen (KP) Bumi Subur, Village of Kerta Bumi, Sub district of Kuaro, on Thursday (30/11). Head of Plantation Agency East Kalimantan Province, Ahmad Muzakkir said that the audit was part of ISPO for smallholders’ plantations as the way to encourage ISPO certification in independent smallholders’ plantations, as same as President’s Instruction Number 44 / 2020.

“This is the first time that East Kalimantan Plantation Agency does ISPO certification with the fund from Regional Budget of Forest Carbon Partnership Facility – Carbon Fund (FCPF-CF)," Ahmad Muzakkir or known as Bang Zack said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of Information and Communication Agency East Kalimantan Province, Saturday (2/12/2023).

Bang Zack also told that it is important to support ISPO certification for independent smallholders, including technical aspects as regulated in the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture Number 38 / 2020 and East Kalimantan Regulation Number 7 / 2018 about Sustainable Plantation. The strong commitment from independent smallholders to complete ISPO certification would be the key to succeed the program.

“We hope that in the future there would be many smallholders involved with the bigger (fund) support from many parties in ISPO certification in this province,” Bang Zack said.

Head of Sustainable Plantation, Asmirilda said that the agency actively delivered socialization, technical development, and trainings about ISPO, including operational standards of pesticide application, fire in the forest - control, and ISPO external audit by certification institution. Asmirilda did hoped that KP Bumi Subur would successfully pass the audit and got ISPO certificate.

Head of Livestock and Plantation Agency District of Paser, Djoko Bawono told that the agency published 4.469 cultivation documents for plantation unions and palm oil groups in the district. Governor of East Kalimantan acknowledged the achievement for the commitment of publishing cultivation documents and accelerating smallholders replanting program. Djoko Bawono hoped that the documents would be used to get ISPO certification process and other related goals, to escalate palm oil plantation development in District of Paser and East Kalimantan Province.

Anton Hidayat, Program Coordinator of Solidaridad in East Kalimantan told that the institution delivered development to KP Bumi Subur since 2019. The development involved kinds of activity, such as, training in good agriculture practices (GAP), formulating operational standards, development to get cultivation documents and environment documents, internal control system training, internal audit training and execution. Solidaridad is committed to support the districts to succeed ISPO certification for smallholders in the regions. (T2)
