InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA -.According to the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture Number 105 / 2014, this can be implemented and divided into three breeding/cultivation groups, the first, intensive breeding/cultivation which means, it should take advantages from by palm oil product, the cow shed should be around plantations, does fattening, and provide cow meat.
The second, semi-intensive breeding/cultivation which means, it should take advantage from palm oil products and vegetation around palm oil plantations. Cow shed should be around plantations, implementing fattening and should be in shed, and providing cow meet, providing breeding cows, and feeder cattle.
The third, extensive breeding/cultivation which means, it should take advantage from palm oil product and vegetation around plantation. The shed and drafting yard should fully conduct fattening and provide breeding cows, feeder cattle, and cow meet.
Of course, palm oil – cow integrated system (POCIS) implementation should not randomly run but should be analyzed and observed in the first place. At least, there are some potentials in POCIS because palm oil plantations in Indonesia laid about 16,38 million hectares.
According to the calculation for three hectare - palm oil plantations, one cow could breed. If 50% palm oil plantations could be advantage to breed cow, at least, there would be 2.73 million cows.
POCIS implementation, in fact, could be one business of cow breeding with zero waste. It could escalate economic value product from plantations, minimize herbicide, fertilizer costs, escalate fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production, and people’s empowerment.
