InfoSAWIT, LHOKSEUMAWE – Port of Krueng Geukeuh, North Aceh significantly got progress in export – import activity by successful transporting palm oil shell to City of Hokaido, Japan.
General Manager PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) I Lhokseumawe, Joni Hutama said that the port is now the center of export activity because six ships transported palm oil shell since January.
He also mentioned that the ship in palm oil export activity is MV. Sun Brave Singapore. It is 127 meter - long and 9.976 GT in weigh. Until now each ship could transport about 11 thousand tons of palm oil shell which sixty mills produced in Aceh Province. The export activity would not be in transit to accelerate distribution and confirm the sustainable supply.
“Palm oil shell that is exported from Aceh would be used as material for power plant in Japan. By having about 60 mills, Aceh Province would have big potential to supply it,” Joni said in a press conference, Thursday (9/11/2023).
PT Biomas Andalan Indonesia Kharisma is in charge on palm oil shell export. It gathered materials from every mill in Aceh. He also took other stakeholders that got export materials to use Port of Krueng Geukeuh as the efficient export activity.
“We hope every stakeholder in Aceh would take advantages on doing exports through Port of Krueng Geukeuh. Every facility is ready here with supporting infrastructures. We are ready to serve every investor and export-import activity because everything is ready here,” he said, as quoted from the official page of Aceh Province.
Port of Krueng Geukeuh within 268 meter – dock and 10 meter - deep, has the significant role as feeder port to Port of Belawan, North Sumatera. Within its history since the seventh century, the port becomes the vital part of trade in Malaka Strait, reinforces its position as one strategic port in Indonesia. (T2)
